April Showers

April is my favorite month (yes I know it's May but there are only so many days in a calendar month and I made this back in April so I shall speak about my love of April).  First of all, it's my birth month!  Second, spring gets into swing.  I love spring.  But this year, April also brought me a new "sibling" for my Brother sewing machine (ex-660 if you are wondering) a brand new Brother embroidery machine the PE 770.

I'll give you a moment to be just slightly jealous.

My very first attempt with it was using a file on the machine.  It stitched out beautifully, and I definitely had the bug.  So I headed over to the Embroidery Library and checked out their freebies (woe is me, my crafting budget is still in the red from a few fabric runs ago....).  They had this ADORABLE duck playing in the rain.  I had to have it and well it was free!! It is no longer but they do have this cute duck frolicking in the flowers and another one of a dragonfly -- good until May 31st.

I cut out a Figgy's Tee for Two back when we were still in Cali but of the three (or was it four) I didn't sew up the last one.  PERFECT for my first REAL attempt on an actual project.  Took the front piece and set it up for duckie goodness. (Can you tell I have a thing for ducks yet?)  When S woke up from his nap he got to see it finish stitch out and then I pulled it out of the hoop.  The pure joy when he saw it was perfect.  Then the deep sadness he experienced when he realized it wasn't a shirt yet but just a piece of fabric.  Sigh, you can't win them all right?

The next day I got around to stitching the shirt together and placed it outside his door for him to find after waking from nap.  I do believe I won Mommy of the Year when he found it.  "Mommy it's beautiful!  I love it.  I like ducks."  All said a in reverent hush voice of amazement.  **Queue up the hallelujah chorus**  So much pride swelled up in this mama.  Now he keeps asking for more items but alas mama is having some creative block.

I love this boy.  He was fighting off imaginary foes (dragons, bugs, maybe a little sister who was running through....) during our photoshoot.
